How it works

Add the Prayer Wheel block or the [[prayer_wheel]] shortcode to any page. Visitors choose 15, 30, or 60 minutes, any length they like, or no timer at all, and the page walks them through each movement with Scripture, a prompt, and space to write.

UP: Presence

  • Be Still
  • Praise
  • Give Thanks
  • Pray the Word

IN: Formation

  • Listen
  • Surrender
  • Confession
  • Intercede

OUT: Mission

  • Pray for your church and the Church
  • Pray for your city
  • Pray for your nation
  • Pray for the world

For people praying

  • Pray all twelve movements, only the ones you have time for, or just the UP, IN, or OUT group.
  • Simple Prayer shows one passage and one prompt. Full Prayer adds more prompts, a daily focus, prayer lists, and passages to read and reflect on.
  • Tap any Scripture reference to read the passage in a pop-out.
  • Write notes as you pray, then save them to a dated file or copy them. Each note is tagged with its movement and Scripture.
  • Large type, adjustable text size, and light and dark modes.
  • Keeps the phone screen awake, with an optional chime between movements.
  • Step-by-step help for iPhone Guided Access, Android App Pinning, and adding the page to the Home Screen.

For churches

  • The complete World English Bible and King James Version are built in, both public domain. Pick one at setup.
  • A Scripture library with categories, search, and CSV import, so the wheel shows different verses from day to day. Type a reference and click Fill from Bible.
  • Our Missionaries: a photo card for each missionary you support, with the choice to keep anyone in a sensitive place off the public page.
  • Local Churches: find the churches in your city with an OpenStreetMap search, then pray for a few by name each day.
  • Edit every movement’s title, prompts, Scripture, daily focus, and prayer lists. Your church name and city fill in automatically.
  • Your logo and colors, and an anonymous “minutes prayed” counter to encourage your congregation.
  • Works with any theme as a block or shortcode. Translation-ready.

Private by design

No accounts, no cookies, and nothing loaded from other sites. Notes and personal prayer requests stay in each visitor’s own browser and are never sent to your site. When someone finishes, the only thing recorded is the number of minutes prayed, added to an anonymous running total.

The one optional outside service is the church search on the Local Churches screen, which runs only when an administrator clicks Find churches.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. Prayer Wheel is free and open source (GPL), with no paid version or add-ons.

Do people need an app or an account?

No. It’s a page on your church’s website. People open it on their phone, and can add it to their Home Screen so it opens like an app.

Which Bible translations are included?

The World English Bible and the King James Version, both public domain and both complete. You can add passages from another translation to the Scripture library; if it’s under copyright, add the publisher’s notice and stay within its quotation limits.

Can we change the movements?

Yes. Every movement’s title, prompts, Scripture, and prayer lists can be edited, and you can change the group names and colors to match your church.

Is it safe to list our missionaries?

You choose who appears on the public prayer page. For anyone serving somewhere sensitive, hide their card, or use initials, a region, and no photo.
