License Terms
Last updated October 4, 2026
This License Terms explains how licensing works for premium products purchased from AVDUDE.com, including domain limits, license key usage, updates, support access and allowed usage.
By purchasing, downloading, installing or using our products, you agree to this License Policy.
The short version
- Every AV Dude plugin and module is licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL), version 2 or later, like WordPress itself.
- Your license key gives you access to downloads, updates and support for one production website.
- Staging and local copies of that site are always free and never use up your license.
- Move your license to a different site yourself, up to 3 times a year, with more on request.
- Lifetime licenses are paid once. Annual licenses renew automatically each year until you cancel.
- If a license ends, you keep the code you already have. You stop receiving updates and support.
- This license does not guarantee support or that the product will work after expiration of the license term.
The full terms follow. If anything here conflicts with the GPL, the GPL wins for the software itself.
1. What you are buying
The software. All AV Dude plugins and modules (“the Software”) are distributed under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later. You may use, study, modify and share the Software as that license allows. Nothing in these terms takes away any right the GPL gives you.
The license key. When you buy a module, you receive a license key tied to your purchase. The key is what you are paying for. It gives you:
- access to download the module from avdude.com;
- automatic updates delivered to your site;
- support as described in Section 4.
Names and logos. The GPL covers the code, not the AV Dude name, logo or product names. You may not present a modified copy as an official AV Dude product.
Who is selling. Licenses are sold by David Fleming (“AV Dude,” “we”).
2. License types
Each module is sold with one license type, shown on its page before you buy.
| Lifetime | Annual | |
|---|---|---|
| Payment | One payment | Yearly, renews automatically |
| Updates | For as long as the module is maintained | While the license is active |
| Support | 2 years from purchase | While the license is active |
| Production sites | 1 | 1 |
| Staging and local sites | Free, unlimited | Free, unlimited |
“Maintained” means we continue to release updates for that module. If we retire a module, we will say so on its page and in an email to license holders at least 60 days before updates stop.
3. Sites
One production site. Each license activates the module on one live, public website. A WordPress multisite network counts each site that uses the module as a separate site.
Staging and local copies are free. Development, staging and local copies of your licensed site do not use up your activation. A site counts as staging or local when its address is localhost or an IP address, ends in .test, .local, .localhost or .example, or begins with staging., stage., dev. or test.. They receive the same updates as your production site.
Moving to a new site. Deactivate the license on the old site, then activate it on the new one. You can do this yourself up to 3 times in any 12 months; contact support if you need more. If the old site is no longer reachable, email support@avdude.com and we will release the activation for you.
More sites. Running the module on more than one production site needs one license per site.
4. Updates and support
Updates. While your license is active, your site checks license.avdude.com for new versions and installs them through the normal WordPress update screen. Every update is signed, and your site verifies the signature before installing.
Support covers:
- questions about installing, setting up and using a licensed module;
- bugs in the module, which we fix in a future update;
- help with license activation, transfers and billing.
Support does not cover: custom code, changes to how a module works, problems caused by other plugins or themes, or general WordPress help. Those can be scoped as custom development.
How to get support: Use the request form at avdude.com/support or email support@avdude.com. We reply within 2 business days.
5. Renewals, expiration and cancellation
Automatic renewal. Annual licenses renew automatically through PayPal on the anniversary of your purchase, at the module’s current price. If the price changes, we email you at least 30 days before your next renewal, so you can cancel first if you choose.
Cancelling. Cancel anytime in your PayPal account or by emailing support@avdude.com. Your license stays active until the end of the year you already paid for, then expires. You will not be charged again.
Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, PayPal may retry it. If it still fails, the license expires at the end of the paid year.
When a license expires. The module stays installed, and you keep the version you have. You stop receiving updates and support. The module keeps working exactly as before. Renewing restores updates and support from the date you renew.
6. Refunds
Refunds are covered by our Refund policy. When a purchase is refunded, its license key is deactivated and any annual renewal is cancelled.
7. When we may revoke a license
We may deactivate a license key, without refund, if:
- the payment is reversed or disputed (a chargeback);
- the key is shared publicly or resold;
- the key is used to overload or attack license.avdude.com.
Revoking a key ends updates and support. It does not take away any right the GPL gives you to code you already have.
8. What a license check sends
To activate a license and deliver updates, your site sends license.avdude.com your license key, your site’s address, and the module, WordPress and PHP versions it runs. Like any web request, it also reveals your server’s IP address. We use this only to validate your license, deliver updates and provide support. We keep it while your license is active and for 1 year after it ends, then delete it. Details are in our Privacy policy.
9. No warranty
As the GPL states, the Software is provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind. Our liability is limited as described in Section 5 of our Terms of Sale: no indirect or consequential damages, and a total cap equal to what you paid for the license in the 12 months before a claim.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Changes apply to purchases and renewals made after the update date shown at the top of this page. We will email active license holders about material changes at least 14 days in advance.
11. Contact
Questions about licensing: support@avdude.com. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, and disputes will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Davidson County, Tennessee, as set out in our Terms of Sale.
